Amelia Jane London accessories are now stocked for the 2nd year at Spoiled Brat
So we thought why not have a chat with the faces behind the brand, so we can get to know Amelia Jane better!
So last year, we (at spoiledbrat) signed the Peta fur free pledge. We needed to get some faux fur accessory brands to replace the brands we lost, and thats when we found Amelia Jane London. Amelia Jane London is a super cute and girly accessories brand, from the UK. Amelia Jane make the famous pom pom beanies, but also a range of quirky clothes and hair accessories.
We have asked Alice & Olivia , who are lovely sisters , some questions, to get to know their lovely brand better, and are excited to share this with you guys.
So girls, when did you get into fashion?
“We have always loved fashion and been very in to following bloggers and trends and experimenting with our style, but we haven’t studied it at uni or anything like that, we did property and Amelia Jane evolved from our wanting to start a business together as sisters which appealed to us more than our current jobs!”
Could you describe the role that you play in the company?
“Officially we are both company directors, but our roles include almost everything, from designing our collections, attending trade shows and events, finance, social media, and much of our time is spent taking orders from our fab stockists, which include Spoiled Brat! “
Where does most of you inspiration come from?
“We both love the idea of being wild and free with flowers in our hair and sand between our toes in the summer, and galloping along through the countryside in winter. Our inspiration for the look and feel of the brand came from this carefree vibe of friends having fun together, of teenage dreams, of summers spent in exciting locations, of the beautiful English countryside, and of London, where we spend lots of our time. “
Who are the people that inspire you the most?
“Women who kick ass in business, especially in a big way. Diane Von Furstenburg, Victoria Beckham, Sophia Amoruso, Lena Dunham, Natalie Massenet, Tamara Mellon. People who are not afraid of hard work and who thrive on it.”
"People who dream big and aren’t afraid of it."
Top memorable moments or turning points in your line?
“An exciting moment for us was being asked to attend Shopcade’s pop up for new designers at London Fashion Week last September, it felt great that we had been noticed in our first year of trading! This year we have designed and launched our new Mongolian Lambswool collection and its our favourite collection so far, shooting and launching it along with our brand new website last month, was really exciting too.”
What are your favourite pieces from each collection?
“We both love the hats and scarves, I often wear candy pink while Alice always wears caramel! She gets stopped in it wherever she goes. From our summer collection, my favourite was the seashells tshirt as I love anything mermaidy and pretty, and Alice’s was the “rosettes are red” tshirt, as she designed it and it was a huge success!”
Describe your personal style?
Olivia – “girly with a hippie twist, I adore Poppy Delevingne’s style and I love almost everything she wears and how she puts it together. “
Alice – “We do have really similar taste and share lots of our clothes but I do love ripped jeans, black Nike trainers and lots of burgundy at the moment.”
Where do you see your brand in the future?
“We hope to grow the online side of the business and introduce more collections, and possibly more collaborations with models, bloggers, and other web based sales platforms. We have some exciting things in the pipeline and some new collections launching before Christmas too so there is lots to be excited about at Amelia Jane and we love what we do, which is the most important part!“
